BVTF Report w/e 4th Sept 2008Bellbrook Valley Trout Fishery Report w/e 4th May 2008 Sport has been excellent at the fishery over the past few weeks with a lot of quality fish being caught. A lot of fish over 6lbs have been caught generally and Minehead angler Ashley Cridge, fishing a season ticket, has taken 11 fish from 7lbs 12oz to 3lb 12oz with a total weight of nearly 58lbs. The best 4-fish limit was taken by J Faulkner of Modbury who caught 4 specimens to 7lb12oz for a 18lb 1oz total. Colin Gosling of Tiverton used a Hare's Ear at 2-3ft to take 3 fish for 14lb 14oz total, best fish 7lb 2oz. Bob Rawlinson of Taunton caught fish of 6lb, 5lb 6oz and 3lb. Adrian Harwood of Hampton Wick Surrey caught a 6lb fish plus 2 more of 4lb 4oz and 3lb 12oz on a Montana fished deep. Don Adams of Barrow in Furness stayed for a few days relaxed fishing and caught fish of 5lb2oz, 3 @ 4lbs, 4lb2oz, 4lb1oz, 3lb 12oz on a variety of small nymphs. Most anglers fished the various Rover ticket options and Steve Jasper staying at Bellbrook bought a season ticket and caught 3 Specimens to 6lb10oz for 15lb 8oz before moving on to the Normal Lakes to take a brace for 3lbs. On his second day Steve caught 3 Specimens for 11lb 8oz and a brace of Normals for 3lb 3oz. On the third day his catch was 2 Specimens for 7lb 10oz plus 3 Normals for 4lb 3oz and finishing his 4 days with a 4-fish Specimen bag of 17lb 6oz. Steve took most of his fish on Damsel Nymph and Diawl Bach. Dave Jewell of Tiverton caught 4 Specimens for 14lb 6oz, 3lb 8oz, 3lb 6oz, 3lb 2oz and finished with a brace from the Normal Lakes. On the Normal Lakes James Kingston caught 3 fish for 6lb 5oz, Martin Fowle of Wellington put 3 on the bank for 6lbs on an Orange Tadpole and Kurt Baker of North Petherton caught 3 for 5lbs. Best flies have been black-based patterns such as Montana, Viva, Beetle or Tadpole fished mid-depth, Bloodworm fished slow and deep and GRHE or the ubiquitous Damsel patterns worked in the upper layers . |
