Christmas 2008 Competition ResultsBellbrook Christmas 2008 Competition Bellbrook held its annual Christmas competition on the 14th of December, 2008 and what a turn-out it was too. Twenty Four anglers, who fished in pairs, came to join in on the fun and put their skills to the test during the 6 sessions of fishing throughout the day. Many of the anglers came suitably attired with their Santa hats or some tinsel draped about their person making the atmosphere all that more festive. The day consisted of a number of fishing sessions and the goal was to catch 1 fish per session. The weather certainly was cold, as the day started out with a sharp frost, making the mulled wine a much welcome tipple and keeping the anglers warm and in fine merry spirits. The fishing on the whole was good in spite of the torrential rain two nights before the competition which coloured the lakes slightly making it all that more challenging.
Everyone broke mid-day for a lunch of hot turkey and gravy sandwiches, spicy tomato soup, homemade sausage rolls and apple pie and custard provided by our hosts.
There were 3 more sessions to be fished after lunch and it took some convincing to get the anglers, who were now warm, toasty and full of lunch, to get back out into the cold. But they did and more fish were caught in the afternoon. The day finished with a flurry of activity around the weighing scales. The numbers were tallied up and the results were in.
