The Bellbrook Cup Fishing Report – Heat Three 17th May 2015

(Photos at the bottom) The weather was kind to the competitors again with a nice calm day and not too much sun. Plenty of fish were caught and most of these were in the top 2 feet of water with slow sinking wet flies. The fish are normally lively at this time of year but for some reason this year they are particularly hard fighting and as a result every angler lost at least one fish and some lost considerably more. The best fish of the day went to Karl Baker from Exeter who was very pleased with a 6 – 11 rainbow caught on the specimen lake using a Mayfly – the fish snatched the fly as soon as it hit the water and Karl reported that he had to be very quick to land his fish! The combined scores and weights were a little lower than the first two heats with no one managing to catch their limit of 6 fish but we had 5 anglers on 5 fish. The best bag of the day went to Perry Bamonte from Cullumpton with 5 fish for 15 – 5.

The full results from this heat are shown below and also we have the full results of the competition so far. Please note that so far there is only one angler with the required three heats fished – everyone else has at least one more heat to fish.

Fishery Owner Chris Atwell commented “We are pleased with the way the competition is going but would really like to see a few more taking part – maybe the event will grow in future years. Or maybe they are put off by the quality of the anglers already fishing the event and are too afraid to show what they can do ....”
