Bellbrook Fishing Report week ending 21st November 2014

Nearly all the leaves have fallen but the last few are still very colourful and combined with the leaf litter the autumn colours are still breath taking. We’ve been fortunate with the weather his past week with less rain and very mild bright days most of the week. These milder temperatures have brought the fish to the surface especially on the Specimen lake although it hasn’t been obvious what they’ve been taking and so finding a consistent pattern has not been easy.

Regular angler Antonio Balado from Uffculme certainly cracked the normals this week taking 4 fish for 9-6. Antonio used a floating line with 6lb breaking strain and flies included a small black spider pattern and a damsel.

John Carpenter and his daughter both fished the Specimen lakes and had 24-5 between them. Dad did manage two more fish than daughter Amy but was happy with her best todate at 5-3. Both were using a floating line with a 5lb leader.

Another local Rob Quick from Exeter also joined us for half a day on the normals managing 2 rainbows for 5-8. Again he was using a floating line and best fly was the Gold Head Damsel.

Ian Stiby from Wellington took a Rover Lite ticket and had a 7lb Rainbow – his biggest ever. Adding 2 more fish to his bag for 5lb Stibbs was happy with his day.

The Annual Christmas Fish Off takes place on the 30th November – there are still places for that so please get in touch if you’d like to join in. Any questions about the fishery please call Chris on 01398 351292.
