The Hide - a cosy & rustic retreat with treetop decking and log fire

Tiverton 7 miles*Bampton 5 miles*Shop 4 miles

The Hide is a treasured, old school caravan in an amazing spot! She would suit guests who are looking to switch off and enjoy some peace and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings. There's no wi-fi or TV and we hope this gives guests the chance to reconnect, read books, gaze at stars and enjoy great views across the lakes. There is mobile phone signal if you need it.

The Hide is so named because it's hidden amongst trees and is the ideal place for bird watching. We love this special place as there is always something new in nature to marvel at! Here at Bellbrook Fishery there is an abundance of wildlife, from kingfishers to deer and a beautiful array of dragonflies and damsels.

The Hide forms part of the fishery which is set down a winding country lane amidst beautiful scenery and there are many lovely walks from here. We also offer fly fishing lessons if the mood takes you - it's the perfect hobby to relax the mind and enjoy a slower pace of life.

You are more than welcome to explore the grounds of the fishery, looking for newts or spotting dragonflies and enjoy the wild flora and fauna. The fishery is a quiet and relaxing place, as well as a working farm. We respectfully ask that all guests support and maintain the quiet nature of the fishery and children (under 16) must be supervised at all times. The lakes are used by fly fishermen and are unsuitable for swimming, kayaking etc.

There is one other caravan sited on the fishery which is about 100m away and you have different access routes so social distancing won't be a problem! Each caravan has its own clearly defined 'residents only' area.

For days out there is plenty to do within 30 minutes drive such as two National Trust properties, Haddon Hill, Devon Railway Centre, Bickleigh Mill, Quince Honey Farm, Exmoor Pony Centre (combine this with a visit to Dulverton for cream tea) and Tiverton has a canal with a cafe, horse drawn barge, a museum and castle.  There is also an excellent riding stables nearby that takes riders along Exmoor.

We are rural and can therefore offer the perfect balance of a peaceful base as well as there being lots to do nearby for children and adults. Here on the farm we are home to several rare breeds and are committed to farming and living sustainably, as well as providing sustainable holidays. Everything from our fabric to our dustpan and brushes are sourced responsibly!

If you are looking for a luxury holiday with all the mod cons then The Hide is not for you. However she is clean, much loved and has everything you need for a short break including a coffee maker and local coffee. The interior is updated every year - this includes a new kitchen sink and taps, a new double bed (4ft) and the interior has been repainted for 2022. We also leave you a welcome basket of homemade and local produce. However she is an old girl and the heating comes solely from the log fire (first bag of local wood is provided free - £5 per bag thereafter) so it can be chilly in the cooler months and we recommend fluffy socks and onesies!

However if you want a bit of an adventure and a great value stay somewhere a little different we'd love to welcome you!

Access to this lovely old girl is by foot only. It is a five minute stroll from the fishery car park and you can soak up the views and sounds of birdsong along the way. It is lit by fairy lights but we do recommend arriving in daylight as it is tucked away and we are only onsite until 6pm. We hope to see you soon and if you have any questions please ask.
