Stunning Self Catering Holiday Cottage in Devon, Tiverton

Great little spot. Completely hidden in a peaceful valley and it was a great place for a getaway. It was so peaceful, just wish we could have stayed a little longer.

The Lake House -  a stunning 3 bedroom retreat with private lake set in over 1/2 acre of glorious countryside

The Lake House is pefect for peace seekers and nature lovers who want to stay somewhere a little bit different. Memories of pond dipping with the children, friends around the table, spotting a kingfisher or gazing at the amazing stars will be treasured. We love this gorgeous house in its amazing setting!  The Lake House really lets you get away from it all and is hidden away in beautiful rolling Devon countryside. You'll have your own private paradise yet we are close to many tourist attractions.  For days out there is plenty to do within 30 minutes drive such as two National Trust properties, Haddon Hill, Devon Railway Centre, Bickleigh Mill, Quince Honey Farm, Exmoor Pony Centre (combine this with a visit to Dulverton for cream tea) and Tiverton has a canal with a cafe, horse drawn barge, a museum and castle.  There is also an excellent riding stables that takes riders along Exmoor. The beaches of North Devon are about an hour away.

The house itself was a family project and has 3 bedrooms: a master with king sized bed and french doors opening onto the decking, a second bedroom which is made up as twin beds and a small  children's room with bunk beds. The top bunk is only suitable for children.  The Lake House is ideal for couples wanting a private retreat or for families and friends of up to 4 adults and 2 children.  The bedrooms are decorated in a simple and understated style to provide a restful environment. They all have bedside tables with drawers and hooks or a rail for hanging clothes.

There is a beautifully bijou bathroom with a large shower and a well equipped kitchen with microwave and dishwasher.  The large open plan living area has a Smart TV with DVD, 4G hub, Alexa and overlooks the lake. There is a beautiful homemade dining table and the large glass sliding door opens onto the decking so you can always admire the magnificent view and feel part of the great outdoors.

We are an eco friendly destination and promote biodiversity as much as possible. The areas around The Lake House reflect this and the flora and fauna provide an unofficial nature reserve which leads to an abundance of wildlife for you to enjoy. You may see otters, deer and badgers to name a few as well as a myriad of butterflies and dragonflies.

We hope children and adults alike will love this unique place and enjoy the opportunity to be surrounded by the magic of nature. We have provided lots of games and wildlife spotting/mini beast hunting activities for younger children.

As the house is virtually on the lake, parking for a maximum of 2 cars is just above the house and there is a short walk of approximately 50m along the grass and is slightly sloped. There are 3 steps to the decking and once inside it is all on one level. Wellies are essential in winter!

Guests are welcome to enjoy fishing the lake on a catch and release basis. It is designed to provide a bit of fun for those with children and has a few trout and carp. For the more serious fly fishermen we recommend purchasing tickets and fishing Bellbrook's well stocked lakes.
